Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series following 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an incredible feeling."

Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I want up in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
