Red Bull Announces Significant 2026 Driver Line-Up: Hadjar Promoted, Teenager Arvid Lindblad Gets F1 Drive.

The Red Bull team has confirmed significant changes for the 2026 Grand Prix year, promoting Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its A-team and giving 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his maiden Formula 1 seat.

The young driver, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, will be the partner of Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the second team VCARB.

This driver musical chairs sees Japan's Yuki Tsunoda losing his seat following a five-year stint.

Who is Arvid Lindblad?

The youngster was marked out as a potential future star by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.

Regarding the company's junior academy, a key advisor previously said that Lindblad "seems extremely gifted", commending his "natural quickness".

Red Bull prepared a programme for some time to ready Lindblad for his potential F1 debut in 2026, including runs in Grand Prix practice at Silverstone and Mexico City.

The rookie said it was a "dream come true", adding: "2026 will be a massive test, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm eager to collaborate with the team and meet the challenge. I am incredibly excited to get started."

He has won a couple of victories in F2 this year and is sixth in the standings ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

The Frenchman's Chance

The Frenchman's debut season started in difficult fashion when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the first Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has emerged as one of the most impressive newcomers of the year.

His performances included an excellent podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies 10th in the drivers' standings.

The team principal said: "Hadjar has displayed impressive growth and demonstrated to be a fast adapter. Most importantly, he has the raw speed that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can excel next to Max."

The promoted driver called it "an awesome move" and said he felt "ready".

Tsunoda's Exit

To partner Lindblad at the junior team, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander started 2025 with the main team but was moved back early in the year. He has settled back in at the junior outfit with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he deserves another season.

The Japanese driver, in contrast, has been ejected after a difficult season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has scored a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship.

The driver market moves confirm that there is also no spot on the Red Bull programme for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 for 2026.
