Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who died in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted words of sorrow publicly, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

His name was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our city”.

The assailant opened fire inside a room in the engineering facility on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official reported to the Associated Press.

Law enforcement that searched the lodging recovered two firearms and magazines when the suspect was taken into custody, according to reports.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, one student was released from the hospital, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a independent school in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

More Condolences

Cook was remembered at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the club. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic college with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in this year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
