An Exceptional Person - Greenwood Leads Backing for Moody Following MND Diagnosis

Ex-England skipper Lewis Moody has been backed to confront motor neurone disease with "all his might" by past playing partner and fellow Rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood.

The 47-year-old sportsman, learned he had the degenerative, muscle-wasting condition 14 days prior and has revealed to BBC Breakfast that he is having trouble processing the implications of his diagnosis.

Rugby great Rob Burrow and Scottish and Lions star Doddie Weir have both died from the disease within the past three years.

Leicester's representative, the organization's leader at the club where Moody played extensively, earning numerous national trophies and continental honors over a decade and a half, also praised Moody as a person, as well as a player.

"The statistics, honors and achievements show the remarkable sportsman Lewis was, but that is only half the story," commented the representative.

"At one moment he'd be celebrating with the international prize and the following Friday he'd be in the sales department where I worked, answering the phone to supporters if we were really busy and assisting with sales."
